Here are examples of 2024 ECO Indemnity Payments assuming the farmer’s APH is the same as the expected county yield.
The actual coverage per acre and payments will be different for each farmer based upon their own APH. If the farmer’s APH is higher than the expected county yield, the coverage per acre and indemnity payments will be higher than provided in the example. If the farmer’s APH is lower than the expected county yield, the coverage per acre and indemnity payments will be lower.
The 2024 Projected Price was $4.66 for corn and the Harvest Price settled at $4.16. For soybeans, the Projected Price was $11.55 and the Harvest Price came in at $10.03. Given the price decline for soybeans and close to expected yields, many counties had 100% ECO indemnity payments. Corn yields were more variable across the counties and some were well above expected. This provided more variable payments for corn in 2024.
